During the recently held white-ball tour of Sri Lanka, Krunal tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, he missed the last two games of the T20I series.

Krunal was in isolation and after serving the mandatory seven-day quarantine, he came back to Mumbai on August 5 with negative RT-PCR reports.

“Thank you for your wishes everyone. They kept me going. I’m completely fine now, thanks to all the efforts of the doctors and healthcare workers. Special mention to everyone at BCCI and Sri Lankan Cricket for all that they’ve done for me. Forever grateful,” he tweeted.

While Krunal Pandya was separated from the Indian contingent after being diagnosed COVID-19 positive on July 27, eight Indian team members were deemed his close contacts by BCCI’s medical team and they were also asked to isolate.

Among them, wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and spin all-rounder Krishanppa Gowtham had also tested positive for the virus.

Along with Krunal, Chahal and Gowtham had stayed back in Sri Lanka and served a mandatory quarantine period.

After testing negative twice, Chahal has also returned home and he thanked everyone for the good wishes.

“Feels good to be negative with a positive attitude #home thank you for all your wishes,” Chahal wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav, who were in quarantine following Krunal's positive result, left Sri Lanka and landed in England to join the Virat Kohli-led Test squad earlier this week.
