Kamalpreet Kaur | GettyIndia’s Discuss Throw athlete Kamalpreet Kaur has become a star after impressing everyone in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics 2020. She finished sixth in the final of her event. Despite not winning a medal, the feat Kaur achieved has been lauded by fellow athletes and fans.

The 25-year old athlete finished second in the qualifying round but never looked comfortable in the final. She had a third-round throw of 63.70 meters to finish sixth. Her position enabled her to equal the performance of 2010 Commonwealth gold medallist Krishna Punia’s performance at the 2012 London Olympics.

The legendary Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to congratulate Kaur for her inspirational performance on the biggest stage.

"Sometimes we win, sometimes we learn. Hard luck Kamalpreet! We are proud of you for giving your best & representing India at such a big stage. This experience will only make you a stronger athlete in the future," Sachin Tendulkar tweeted.

Former India batsman Virender Sehwag was also all praise of the young athlete and tweeted that he had become her fan.
