The 33-year-old was also part of the national squad for the recently-concluded white-ball series against India. He featured in the first ODI and the last two T20Is, returning with 8 runs and no wickets from the three matches.

“I believe the time has come for me to make way for the next generation of players,’’ said Udana whilst notifying his decision to Sri Lanka Cricket.

‘’It is with immense pride and passion, and unfathomable commitment that I have represented and served my country,’’ he further said.

Udana’s retirement couldn’t have come at a worse time for Sri Lanka as they are enduring a tough time in international cricket for quite a while.

Isuru Udana represented Sri Lanka in 21 ODIs and 34 T20Is, claiming 18 and 27 scalps respectively. He also has one half-century each to his name in the shorter formats of the game.
