Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga attains career best 2nd spot in latest ICC T20I bowlers rankings

ICC recently provided the latest weekly update to the men’s rankings.

Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga | GettySri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga has moved up one slot to a career-best second place in the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings after picking up two wickets in the first match of their three-match T20I series against India being played in Colombo.

Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar who was the Man of the Match for his performance in the first T20I where he picked 4-22 as India registered a 38-run victory over hosts on Sunday (25 July), has moved up four slots to 16th spot in the latest weekly update to the men’s rankings.

Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal moved 10 spots up to 21st position and Sri Lanka fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera (up five places to 37th) are among the others to move up the rankings for bowlers.

Since these rankings also include performances in the three-match T20I series between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh and the last two matches of the Ireland versus South Africa T20I series, Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani has moved up 37 places to 31st position.

Amongst the batsmen, Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan who scored 46 runs off 36 deliveries in Colombo, is now joint-29th along with South Africa opener Reeza Hendricks, who moved up three places as he scored 69 runs in the last match of the series, that they won 3-0.

Apart from them, South Africa’s David Miller advances nine places to take the 33rd spot whereas India’s Suryakumar Yadav (up 25 places to 42nd) and Zimbabwe’s Wesley Madhevere (up 59 places to 70th).

In the batting list, Australia’s Alex Carey has moved up three places to take 22nd spot and Sri Lanka’s Avishka Fernando has climbed 10 slots to 52nd position. Left-arm spinner Ashton Agar is up 18 places to 65th place among bowlers.
