Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar has come out in support of Dipti Vishvasrao to fulfill her dream to become the first lady doctor from her village in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra.
The 19-year-old Dipti was always a brilliant student and dreaming to become a doctor. During the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she had to travel a kilometer every day since her village was remotely located in order to get a network connection so she can continue her studies online.
Well, Dipti’s hard work paid rich as she performed exceptionally well in her board examinations, as well as successfully cleared the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and got admission to Government Medical College at Akola.
But the financial constraints were preventing Dipti from fulfilling her dreams because of her father's modest income. However, Dipti’s relatives helped her with the fees, but she was still short of funds for the hostel and other expenses and she was just losing her hope.
Luckily, Tendulkar came to the rescue of Dipti timely when her dreams of becoming a doctor were about to die due to financial constraints. Tendulkar’s foundation in association with the Seva Sahyog Foundation (SSF) helped Dipti with scholarships to help her realize her dreams.
The legendary batsman along with officials of the SSF arranged the required funds within a short span of time for Dipti who promised to work hard to be able to help other bright students in the future.
She said in a video message via SSF's Twitter handle: “I am thankful to Sachin Tendulkar Foundation for awarding me the scholarship. The scholarship has lightened all my financial burden which allows me to focus more on my studies. My lifelong dream of becoming a doctor is now moving forward and is becoming reality at Government medical college Akola.”
Dipti added, “I promise I will work hard and one day I will be able to help other brilliant students for fulfilling their dreams just as Sachin Tendulkar Foundation helped (me).”
Tendulkar shared Dipti's message and quoted the tweet saying, "Dipti's journey is a shining example of chasing one's dreams and making them a reality. Her story will inspire many others to work hard towards their goals. My best wishes to Dipti for the future!"
Noteworthy, Dipti is among other several beneficiaries who benefited from the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation and Vidyarthi Vikas Yojna (VVY) – a project of the SSF that works towards providing financial support to students from the underprivileged section of society to pursue higher education.
