Cricket West Indies (CWI) CEO Johnny Grave said the decision on when the second ODI of the three-match ODI series between West Indies and Australia can be played will be taken hopefully on Friday (July 23).

The second ODI between has been postponed on July 22, Thursday, following the revelations of a COVID-19 positive case from a non-playing member of the West Indies camp minutes after the cap presentation and coin toss in Barbados.

After the COVID-19 case was confirmed by Cricket West Indies (CWI), Australia, and West Indies both teams and match officials immediately returned to the team hotel and are now in isolation after undergoing COVID-19 tests on Thursday following the suspension of the second ODI.

They will remain in isolation in their hotel rooms until their PCR-Test results come on Friday while the broadcast staff is staying in a bio-secure bubble in Barbados.

As reported by cricket.com.au, CWI CEO Johnny Grave stated: “This decision was taken after the toss at Kensington Oval once the (positive COVID-19 test) result was known and confirmed by (Barbados) Ministry of Health officials. Everyone will be re-tested later today.”

He signed off by saying, “In the meantime, everyone will remain in isolation in their rooms until those PCR test results are confirmed. We'll make a further decision on when the match can be replayed at a later date once all the test results are back in by hopefully tomorrow (Friday) morning.”

Noteworthy, Barbados has so far reported 50 new COVID-19 cases over the past three days and 173 people are in isolation.
