Australia is all set to travel to Bangladesh for the first time since 2017 as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed their T20I series tour.

There were many speculations of Australia’s tour to Bangladesh following the rise in the COVID-19 cases in the country and then call for a country-wide lockdown from July 23.

However, both the BCB and Cricket Australia (CA) have reached an agreement on July 20 (Tuesday) to go ahead with the planned tour after the Australian cricket board was satisfied with the bio-security arrangements made by the BCB for the upcoming T20I series.

On Wednesday, July 21, the BCB’s cricket operations chairman Akram Khan has finally confirmed Australia's upcoming tour of Bangladesh comprising five T20Is to be played on August 3, 4, 6, 7, and 9. All matches are to be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.

Akram told Cricbuzz, “Yes, the tour is confirmed and they (Australia) are coming to play the five-match T20I series.”

Well, Australia and Bangladesh both teams are expected to arrive in Dhaka from the West Indies and Zimbabwe respectively on July 29 and undergo the three-day room quarantine period at the hotel.

The Australian team is reportedly reluctant to go through the immigration center upon arriving in Dhaka, as they want to reach the team hotel straight from the tarmac of the airport to avoid any chances of getting infected by COVID-19.

It is also being said that Bangladesh and Australia can practice only on August 1 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka before the five-match T20I series.
