Tuesday (July 13) morning came in with bad news for all cricket fans as 1983 World Cup winner Yashpal Sharma passed away due to a cardiac arrest.
As the cricket fraternity mourns, his former teammate, Dilip Vengaskar, spoke on this in disbelief, saying that Yashpal was the fittest among all the former teammates of ’83 world cup squad.
"This is unbelievable. I cannot believe that this can happen. We just met last week and he was so fit, he was a fitness freak. Absolutely shocking," Vengsarkar told Aaj Tak.
Vengaskar also revealed the old teammates of ’83 World Cup had met him just last week.

"Last week we met up, the '83 World Cup team. He was the fittest of us all and I asked what the secret was to his fitness. He said he is a vegetarian and he goes for walks every day. That's why I am saying that I can't believe that this news is true. I can't believe it.
"I will be speaking to the family. The news is just sinking in," he said.
Yashpal Sharma had represented India between 1978 and 1985, playing 42 ODI’s and 37 Test Matches and was a key player in the Indian middle-order during the 1983 World Cup. He also served as a national selector for the Indian team in 2008.
