ENG v PAK 2021: Forget this match as soon as possible- Shahid Afridi on Pakistan's poor performance

Afridi has also asked the Pakistan team to comeback strongly in the second ODI.

England went 1-0 up in the three-match ODI series against Pakistan | GettyPakistan team recently suffered a heavy defeat against hosts England in the first match of this three-ODI series on July 8 in Cardiff. The Green Army received a lot of criticism for this defeat especially because it came against an inexperienced England side.

With five debutants in the side, England still managed to bowl Pakistan out for just 141 and hand them a 9-wicket loss to go 1-0 up in this three-match ODI series.

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi was also disappointed with the national team’s performance at Cardiff and posted his thoughts on Twitter. He asked the team to forget this match as soon as possible and to get back strongly in the second ODI at Lord’s.

We should forget this match as soon as possible! Pakistan I am sure are not as bad, come on boys let's fightback strong at Lord's on Saturday. Well played England, that was a top performance from a new look side,Afridi wrote on Twitter.

Here’s the tweet from Shahid Afridi:

After being asked to bat first by hosts, the touring Pakistan side was two wickets down in just the first three balls as Saqib Mahmood ran through the Pakistan top-order along with Lewis Gregory, who too struck from the other end.

But Pakistan will be motivated to come back strongly in the second ODI that is scheduled on Saturday (10 July) at Lord’s that too in front of a full capacity crowd without social distancing.
