Wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik is eyeing to be a part of at least one of the two upcoming T20 World Cups. Karthik is doing commentary these days in England, but he wants to play cricket as long as his body allows him.

In a chat with Gaurav Kapur on the '22 Yarns' podcast, Karthik said he had a good time with the Indian cricket team before he was dropped. He played three matches in the 2019 World Cup and could only score 14 runs in 2 innings, one of them was the semi-final match.

"I want to play the sport as long as I am fit. I want to represent India in at least one World Cup of the next two, I think one is in Dubai and the next is in Australia. I had a fab time with the Indian T20 team till the time I was dropped due to an unsuccessful World Cup campaign," he said.

Karthik feels the Indian cricket team needs a pure middle-order batsman to do the job and he can fit into that role. "I still play in the IPL for KKR. India does need a pure middle-order batsman. They have a lot of top-order batsmen who they slot in the middle-order. 

"Barring Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja there is no one who is a middle-order batsman. They all bat for their franchises from opening to No.3, with the only exception being Rishabh Pant who bats at No.4," Karthik concluded.

Karthik hasn't got picked in the Indian cricket team after the 2019 World Cup. He played his last T20I match in the same year against Australia.
