Pakistan batsman Haris Sohail will reportedly miss the opening One-Day International (ODI) of the three-match ODI series against England starting on Thursday (July 8) in Cardiff.

The middle-order batsman also remains doubtful for the remaining two ODIs of the series in England after suffering a leg injury. Haris had complained about an injury in the right leg and it led him to miss several practice sessions and even both of the intrasquad matches in Derbyshire.

The left-hander, who is due to undergo an MRI scan, is already undergoing rehab and does not seem to be ready for the first ODI against England on Thursday.

A reliable source in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed, “He has a leg injury and is unlikely to take part in the first ODI and could even miss out on the remaining two matches.”

Well, if the source is to be trusted that Haris will miss the first ODI, which means Pakistan will have one or two debutants in their playing eleven, and Sohaib Maqsood, Abdullah Shafique, Saud Shakil, and Agha Salman are the possible names to be given debut caps against England in Cardiff.

Noteworthy, Sohail had previously returned home from South Africa and New Zealand tours due to fitness issues and even skipped the England tour last year due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
