Ahead of the limited-overs series comprising of three ODIs and as many as T20Is starting on July 8 in Cardiff, the England cricket team was dealt a huge blow, as three cricketers and four management members tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, July 6.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has found it really “ very strange” that the entire England squad has been put in isolation after seven members tested positive for the COVID-19.

However, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that the upcoming home series against Pakistan will go ahead as planned with the new ODI squad has been announced for the home series with Ben Stokes leading the side after the finger surgery.

Reacting to the ECB’s move, Vaughan said it is very strange that the entire white-ball squad is being asked to isolate while citing the example of Scotland when their star footballer Billy Gilmour tested COVID-19 positive during the ongoing Euro 2020, none of his team members were asked to isolate.

Vaughan wrote on Twitter, “Billy Gilmour tests positive & not one Scotland team member or staff has to isolate ... England cricket team members do & the whole squad has to go !?????? VERY VERY Strange times ... I guess we will or should see Alex Hales again though ... #OnOn,”

Here’s England’s new ODI Squad for the Pakistan series –
