Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) to build world's third largest cricket stadium in Jaipur

The association has received the lease of 100-acre land from Jaipur Development Authority.

India's second largest cricket stadium will be in Jaipur | TwitterThe world’s third-largest stadium will soon be constructed in the Indian state of Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur, as the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) has acquired the land documents for its proposed stadium from the Jaipur Development Authority on Friday (July 2).

The world’s largest cricket stadium in India is the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad, followed by Melbourne Cricket Ground at number two and now the new proposed stadium in Jaipur will be the world’s third third-largest cricket stadium.

While the Jaipur Development Authority has already handed over the lease of the allotted land for the stadium to the RCA, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will give INR 100 crore to the state board to build the new stadium in the 'Pink City' Jaipur.

The IAS and JDA commissioner Gaurav Goyal gave the papers of allotted land to RCA President Vaibhav Gehlot for the stadium to be constructed near Chomp village on Delhi Road.

The RCA President said that the new stadium will have the capacity to accommodate 75,000 people and will be constructed in two phases – in the first phases, it will be constructed with a capacity of 45,000 people while in the second phase, its capacity will be expanded to 30,000 more people.

Gehlot told the media, “The stadium to be constructed on around 100 acres of land and will be completed in 2.5 - 3 years with an investment of around Rs 650 crore. The BCCI has given a grant of Rs 100 crore while a loan worth Rs 100 crore will be collected. Rs 90 crore will be collected by the RCA and others.”

He further added, “Under the first phase, investment of Rs 400 crore will be made. RCA will take a loan of Rs 100 crore, Rs 90 crore will be generated via corporate box.”

Noteworthy, the new stadium will have two practice grounds, an academy, a club house hotel, and all other state-of-the-art facilities available in all international stadiums.
