ENG v SL 2021: Jos Buttler ruled out of remaining limited-overs matches against Sri Lanka due to calf injury

"We have made some great strides and I am proud of the way the guys have performed. It's a great opportunity for the guys to stake their claim for the World Cup. We are aware of the capabilities of the players. Today was a great example. It was a hugely commendable opening partnership from Jonny (Bairstow) and Dawid,” he said.

Talking about the loss, Sri Lankan skipper Kusal Perera admitted that their batting performance was not up to the mark as they are not used to pace and bounce. He added that players have to take responsibility and play to their strengths.

"We know it was always going to be tough but the batting has not been up to the mark. We are not used to the pace and bounce and the execution was not great and we need to have good backup plans facing a team like this. We have to take responsibility and play to our strengths and that's the best way to approach this kind of situation,” Kusal Perera said.

Dawid Malan was awarded Man of the Match in the third T20I, while Sam Curran was named as the Player of the Series.
