Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani is set to continue being the chairman of PCB for another three years. The confirmation came in the form of a statement by Mani in which he outlined plans for next year and the PSL.
Mani getting another three-year term was previously not as certain as it was not clear whether he would want to continue or the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan would offer him that extension.
But according to insiders during a recent meeting with Imran Khan in Islamabad, Mani agreed to carry on for another term.
“The Premier asked Mani to continue his good work and complete all the plans he had launched for the improvement of Pakistan cricket.”
The Prime Minister had brought Mani into PCB in August soon after his party won the general elections in 2018.
Thus, if the 76-year-old will be continuing, PCB CEO Wasim Khan whose term ends in February 2022, might also continue for another term as well. Wasim Khan recently said in an interview that he wanted to carry on to oversee the completion of several projects in Pakistan cricket.
Mani in his statement also made it clear that PCB always values its fans and supporters and thus will also be hosting a range of top teams like Australia, England, New Zealand, West Indies in the upcoming home season of 2021-22.
Mani also expressed that even though PCB was forced to have the second-leg of PSL 6 in Abu Dhabi owing to the COVID-19 situation in the country, it would be hosting the tournament completely at home next year and is also confident that spectators would be able to attend the PSL and other international matches at home.
