ZIM v BAN 2021: Mahmudullah added to Bangladesh squad for one-off Test against Zimbabwe

Mahmudullah will make a return to the Test squad after 16 months.

Bangladesh is set to tour Zimbabwe for a one-off Test, three ODIs, and three T20Is next month. 

The tour will start a one-off Test match from July 7-11, followed by the 3-match ODI series, which is part of the ODI Super League that serves as qualification for the 2023 World Cup in India.

With only a few days remaining for the tour, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) cricket operations chief Akram Khan has confirmed that they have included batsman Mahmudullah in their squad for the one-off Test match against Zimbabwe as a back-up to Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim, who have some injury concerns.

Mahmudullah Riyad who is also a member of the ODI squad and will lead the team in the three-match T20I series will make a return to the Test squad after 16 months, having played his last Test in February 2020 against Pakistan.

Bangladesh cricket team will leave for Zimbabwe on 29th June as it will be their first series in-country in more than eight years.
