WI v SA 2021: Dwaine Pretorius tests COVID positive ahead of WI T20I series; Wiaan Mulder named replacement

South Africa also retained Beuran Hendricks as cover ahead of the T20I series.

After crushing West Indies 0-2 in the two-match Test series, South Africa will now face Kieron Pollard-led side in the five-T20I series with all matches to be played in Grenada. 

But ahead of the T20I series, in a disappointing development, South African all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius tested positive for COVID-19 and as a result has not traveled with the T20 squad from St Lucia to Grenada.

Wiaan Mulder who was part of the Test squad will replace Dwaine Pretorius for the five-T20I series, starting Saturday (26th June).

Beuran Hendricks who was set to travel home after the culmination of the Test series has also been retained as cover ahead of the T20I series.

"#PROTEAS T20I SQUAD UPDATE. Wiaan Mulder replaces Dwaine Pretorius, who unfortunately tested positive for COVID-19 in the team's pre-departure testing, Beuran Hendricks retained as cover ahead of the tour,” Cricket South Africa confirmed
