South Africa's wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock and New Zealand batsman Devon Conway have joined Southern Brave as overseas stars for the inauguration edition of The Hundred.
Southern Brave signed De Kock and Conway as overseas replacements for the Australian stars David Warner and Marcus Stoinis for the upcoming 100-ball tournament starting July 21.
Warner and Stoinis pulled out of The Hundred citing the bio-bubble life complications, leaving the Hampshire-based franchise to search for new starts and that ended on De Kock and Conway.
Giles White, General Manager of Southern Brave franchise, said of the latest signing: “While we are disappointed that David Warner and Marcus Stoinis will not be available for our men's team, we are delighted to welcome both Devon and Quinton to the side. They are both quality cricketers who will add power and excitement up the top of the order for us.”
Meanwhile, Conway said on joining The Hundred: “I'm really excited to have joined Southern Brave. I have really enjoyed my time playing in the UK so far, and I'm looking forward to getting stuck in with the team and taking part in the first season of the Hundred.”
On the other hand, De Kock said: “I'm also really excited to be working with Mahela again. Hopefully, we can have plenty of fans in to support us and we can give them something to cheer about.”
Noteworthy, The Hundred is a 100 balls-per-side tournament, featuring eight franchises, with men's and women's teams in the new format competition.
