The Ashes 2021-22 between Australia and England is slated to begin from December 8. With the much-awaited clash 6 months away a report in Daily Mail revealed how English players are facing the possibility of not seeing their families for four months during this winter.

Reacting to the news, former England skipper Kevin Pietersen said he'll back every player who decides to opt-out of the Ashes 2021-22 because of families possibly not being allowed to travel with them and explained how traveling with families have become more important during tough times of COVID-19 pandemic.

“Any ENG player that pulls out of this Ashes, if they seriously can’t see their families for FOUR MONTHS, has my full backing. Families are the most important part of a players make-up. And even more so in the current climate!" Kevin Pietersen Tweeted.

Talking about the same, Michael Vaughan also expressed disappointment saying that Ashes 2021-22 should be called off if players can’t travel along with the family members.

WTC 2021 Final: Pietersen says important one-off game should not be held in England as rain abandons play on Day 4

“Read reports today that England cricketers may not be able to have family members with them down under this winter .. Quite simply if they can’t they should call the Ashes off .. 4 months away from your family is totally unacceptable .. #Ashes,” Michael Vaughan Tweeted.

With the Australian government closing borders for overseas travelers to limit the spread of COVID-19, it would be interesting to see whether England players will get permission to travel with their families on the tour or not.
