For the best Test bowler of the 21st century, the nominees were Muralitharan, Dale Steyn, Shane Warne, and Glenn McGrath – who all were record-breaking bowlers and magicians with the red ball of their era.
However, Muralitharan outclassed all three to become the best Test bowler of the 21st century. The Sri Lankan legend remains the highest wicket-taker in Test cricket with 800 wickets in 133 Tests. Steyn bagged the second spot, while Warne and McGrath took the third and fourth position respectively.
The Star Sports’ jury members had 50 elite experts including the likes of VVS Laxman, Irfan Pathan, Ian Bishop, Harbhajan Singh, Shane Watson, Scott Styris, Gautam Gambhir, and Sunil Gavaskar, with sports journalists and coaches marking their presence to announce the honor.
