Zimbabwe pacer Kyle Jarvis announced retirement from all formats of cricket recently as he feels he has done his part for the country. Jarvis decided to hang his boots after struggling with injuries and illness, over the past year-and-a-half.
After the former skipper Elton Chigumbura who called time on his international cricket, seven months ago, Jarvis becomes the latest high-profile player to walk away from the game in recent months.
Jarvis, a key member of the Zimbabwe cricket team, did not play a single match after suffering a lower-back injury in a Test match against Sri Lanka in 2020.
“Obviously I hurt my back in a Test match against Sri Lanka at the beginning of 2020. I was fortunate I managed to come back, and became fit again. But, just as I thought I was beginning to get back into it, unfortunately, I got that sickness (COVID-19), which set me back even further,” the 32-year-old said.

“It was a very difficult decision, having to retire, and it's something that took me a long time to come to grips with. Nobody wants to stop doing the thing they love,” he added.
The right-arm quick who represented Zimbabwe in 13 Tests, 49 ODIs and 21 T20Is, gathering 130 wickets across formats, then talked about the young generation coming through in Zimbabwe cricket.
“Obviously, every game that has been played, I follow closely. It's nice to see (Richard) Ngarava coming through. I think there is a bright future with (Wesley) Madhevere, Milton Shumba and Dion Myers,” Jarvis signed off.
