BCB expresses interest in hosting Champions Trophy 2025

The board is also trying to co-host a T20 World Cup along with their neighbouring countries.

Bangladesh recently won the ODI series against Sri Lanka | GettyBangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan on Tuesday (June 15) expressed that the board is interested in hosting the Champions Trophy in 2025, as they feel they have the necessary infrastructure for the same.

Hassan also talked about the prospect of hosting the Men’s World Cup but since they are not quite ready for such a big tournament, they will be talking to some of their neighbouring countries to co-host a big event in the country.

There are lots of issues (in order to solely host the Men's World Cup). We will need to have 10 full fledged stadiums. It is the same for whoever is interested to bid for the event. So that is not possible for us because we do not have so many venues.

"It will be an evolving thing" - Tim Southee expects changes in WTC Final format

Hosting even the T20 World Cup solely is a challenge for us but we will sit and discuss with some of the neighbouring countries to see whether we can become a co-host,” he said.

However there is the Champions Trophy [2025] which is possible for us to host. We have decided to bid to solely host the Champions Trophy,” the BCB president added.

During the 10th meeting of the board of directors, it was decided that they will participate in the host selection process for the ICC Men's Events (2024-2031) and to expedite the process, a management team headed by the BCB CEO has been formed.

As far as Bangladesh cricket team is concerned, they will be touring Zimbabwe in July for a one-off Test match followed by a three-match ODI and as many T20I series with the Test match kicking-off the tour from July 7.
