Former England skipper Kevin Pietersen explained the reason behind the team’s batting woes in Test cricket, saying that not many players in the squad play full county seasons these days because of franchise T20 cricket. 

England suffered a humiliating Test series defeat against New Zealand. After the first Test match ending up as a draw, the hosts put up a disappointing performance in the second Test match as they suffered an 8-wicket loss which resulted in their first Test series loss at home since 2014.

Disappointed with England’s batting performance, former skipper Kevin Pietersen took to his official Twitter account and blamed franchise T20 leagues as the reason behind England’s downfall and Test batting woes.

"Since the franchise T20($$$$$$) started, hardly any of crickets GREATS have played full seasons of County Cricket. HUGE gap between County & International cricket, hence the Test match batting woes," Kevin Pietersen Tweeted. 

England are now slated to play five-Test series against India, starting 4th August and then they will later travel to Australia to play the Ashes 2021-22.
