Imam talks about Pakistan's shortcomings and talking to Morgan and Kohli on why their players are successful

Virat Kohli and Eoin Morgan are the most successful limited-overs captains at the moment.

While talking on a YouTube show ‘Cricast’, Pakistan opener Imam-Ul-Haq talked about what is the main reason that is dragging Pakistan Cricket down.

I have spoken to Eoin Morgan and Virat Kohli, two of the most successful captains in white-ball cricket. I have heard from them and their players that the cricketers get a full go and a proper run to prove themselves. I think this is where we are lacking,” Imam said.

I think if we find that consistency, we will get better results. In South Africa, we managed to chase 330, because the core of the ODI side has been the same for a while,” he added.

The southpaw then talked about how the Indian Premier League (IPL) has helped India nurture the vast pool of young players in making them ready for international cricket.

In India, IPL has made a big difference. The batsmen face the same bowlers in international cricket whom they have already faced in IPL and have even done well against them. So when they face these bowlers in international cricket, there is less of a mental barrier,” the left-hand batsman said.

While IPL helps India, in Pakistan, players are drafted into the national side directly from domestic side which according to the 25-year-ols makes it difficult for youngsters to make those immediate changes.

For Pakistan, a player is directly drafted in from domestic cricket, so he finds it difficult to make that immediate adjustment,” Imam signed off.
