Former Pakistan skipper Rashid Latif explains difference between India and Pakistan cricket

According to Latif, since 2010, Indian cricket has been on the rise.

Team India recently won the home ODI series against England | GettyThe Indian Cricket Team has had amazing success in the last decade. From winning the World Cup in 2011 to being top-ranked Test team in the world, Team India has done it all. Pakistan on the other hand has been in a transitional phase in the last 10 years.

Even though the Green Army won the Champions Trophy in 2017, they are unable to perform in the bilateral series against top teams and are currently building a squad under their new skipper Babar Azam.

Thus, former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif explained the differences between the two cricketing countries.

After 2010, Indian cricket has been on the rise, while we have been on a decline. We aren't able to prepare our coaches scientifically and believe someone's talent more from their naked eye. IPL has been data-driven in India since 2010 and it has helped them immensely in creating their talent pool. Overseas coaches also helped them a lot,” Latif said.

The former players, as well as overseas coaches, have helped Indian players develop. That has been one main difference between India and Pakistan. We have appointed former Pakistan players as coaches and not many PSL franchises allow them with their team. This has been a huge problem,” he added.

Team India which is currently under hard quarantine in Southampton, will be playing the final of inaugural edition of World Test Championship (WTC) against Kane Williamson’s New Zealand from 18 June.

The WTC final will be played in front of 4000 spectators and will be followed by a five-match Test series between India and hosts England slated to begin from August 4 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
