Sri Lanka's great Sanath Jayasuriya who was banned from cricket for two years for breaching ICC's anti-corruption code in February 2019, will be making a comeback with a coaching stint at Melbourne club Mulgrave.

As per a 'Herald Sun' report, former Sri Lanka opener Tillakaratne Dilshan convinced 51-year-old Jayasuriya to take up the job.

“Dilshan opened the door for us there, and it was a fantastic opportunity that was presented to us. We just had to work on it and come to an agreement, and we have. I think it's a great opportunity for our young guys to know what international cricket standards are,” said Mulgrave president Malin Pullenayegam.

“That kind of exposure from a young age just elevates the standard of cricket they'll be playing,” he added.

Dilshan will be playing for Mulgraves alongside former Sri Lanka teammate Upul Tharanga, who retired from international cricket earlier this year.

The legendary left-hand explosive batsman who represented Sri Lanka in 445 ODIs and 110 Tests, scored over 13,000 runs in ODIs along with 6,973 runs in the longest format of the game.

The southpaw who made his international debut in 1989, won the 1996 World Cup with the Sri Lankan team.

Apart from International cricket, the 51-year-old has also been a part of the Indian Premier League as well, as he represented the Mumbai Indians from the league's inception in 2008 till 2010.
