New Zealand opener Devon Conway has surpassed former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly’s record highest Test score on debut at Lord's.
Opting to bat New Zealand openers Devon Conway, who was on debut, and Tom Latham gave their side a great start and scored 58 runs for the opening partnership.
However, after the wicket of Tom Latham, the visitors then were in a spot of bother as skipper Kane Williamson and veteran right-handed batsman Ross Taylor both fell cheaply.
Debutant Devon Conway then steadied the innings for Kane Williamson-led side and notched up an unbeaten 132-run partnership with Henry Nicholls to guide New Zealand to 246/3 at the end of Day 1.
Conway scored 136 runs off 240 deliveries at stumps on Day 1. The left-handed batsman during the course of his innings broke few records including Sourav Ganguly’s record for the highest score by a debutant in a Test at Lord's.
