Team India captain Virat Kohli has clarified he never claimed to be a vegan after netizens expressed their shock over his diet. Recently during a live chat with fans on Instagram, Kohli revealed his diet includes eggs.

Earlier, Kohli had confirmed he has given up on meat which was assumed by many as him turning into a vegan. His reason to exclude meat from his diet was a 'cervical spine issue'.

There were also some reports which claimed that Kohli has turned into a vegan following his wife Anushka Sharma. But the 32-year-old, in his latest tweet, wrote that he is a vegetarian and not a vegan.

"I never claimed to be vegan. Always maintained I'm vegetarian. Take a deep breath and eat your Veggies (if you want)," he tweeted.

During the Question and Answer session with fans on Instagram, Kohli said that he has eggs in his regular diet apart from a lot of vegetables, dal, quinoa, etc.

Last year, in a live Instagram video, chat with former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen, Kohli had said, "Left eating meat just before the England Test series. In 2018, when we went to South Africa, I got a cervical spine issue while playing a test match.

"It compressed a nerve that was running straight till my little finger of my right hand. It gave me a tingling sensation and I could barely feel my little finger. I could not sleep at night and it was hurting like mad."

The India skipper even said he never felt better before. "I felt amazing, it is almost two years now and it is the best decision I have taken... it made me feel why I didn't do it before," he further said.
