PSL 2021: Sarfaraz Ahmed and other five players reach Abu Dhabi after getting visa clearance

A total of six Pakistan players have been given clearance on Monday (June 31) for travel to Abu Dhabi to take part in the upcoming rescheduled Pakistan Super League (PSL 2021).

The 6th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was suspended after COVID-19 cases inside the bio-bubble earlier this year after only 14 matches were completed in Pakistan.

However, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) managed to get permission from the UAE authorities to conduct the remainder of the 20 PSL 06 games in Abu Dhabi in June.

Recently, as many as 13 players and officials were barred from entering Abu Dhabi through a commercial flight via Doha, waiting to obtain visas for travel UAE for the PSL 2021. Quetta Gladiators' captain Sarfaraz Ahmed was among the 13 members struck in Pakistan.

Sarfaraz was to fly last week but was stopped by the immigration officers at Karachi airport citing a clearance issue, as the former Pakistan skipper was traveling on his residence visa which is not valid anymore in the UAE.

However, Sarfaraz along with six others have finally been able to board a flight to Abu Dhabi for the PSL 06 after they were given clearance on 31st May 2021.

Amongst the six players, four belong to Lahore, while the remaining two are from Karachi take the flight to Abu Dhabi via Bahrain for the PSL 2021. It is being said that the remaining seven players, including Amir Yamin, Asif Afridi, and Mohammad Imran, are yet to be granted visa clearance.

Noteworthy, PCB was looking to resume the PSL 2021 in the first week of June, but multiple delays in the arrival of players and other travel-related issues reportedly forced the board to consider the tentative dates June 9 or June 10 for the resumption of the tournament.
