"Rahul Dravid always helps you, keeps giving you suggestions," says Priyam Garg

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batsman Priyam Garg talked about the role played by Rahul Dravid in grooming him and revealed how he helped him in growing as a player. 

Rahul Dravid has been the main architect behind youngsters rising to the occasion and delivering for their team. The former Indian batsman was earlier the U19 and India A coach before becoming the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Young batsman Priyam Garg is among the players who have been trained by Rahul Dravid.

While taking to India TV, young Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batsman Priyam Garg lauded Rahul Dravid. The 20-year-old said that his inputs helped him a lot and he always keeps giving suggestions over what is good for the players. 

“Definitely (his inputs were of great help). Rahul Dravid is a very big player and he is also a very good person. He always helps you, whether you are on the field or off it. He always keeps giving suggestions over what is good for you,” Priyam Garg told India TV. 

Garg recalled that when the India U-19 team toured England and South Africa, Rahul Dravid helped him a lot and explained to him how to deal with such conditions which helped him to improve his batting.

“When I went with him to England and South Africa, he shared his experience with me, which helped me a lot. He explained to me how to deal with the conditions, how to bat on those wickets, tackle the bowlers, and deal with the various challenges. It really helped my batting a lot on those surfaces," he said. 

Talking about his U-19 teammate Kartik Tyagi, Priyam Garg said that he’s a very hardworking cricketer and is focused on his career.  

“For the last two years, I and Kartik Tyagi have been playing a lot together. Our U-19 batch is still in touch with each other. We keep talking to each other. We all know about the potential that Karik Tyagi has. He is a very hardworking cricketer. I have been seeing him for the last 6-7 years and he is really focused on his career," he concluded. 

Priyam Garg has played 14 matches in IPL for far and has scored 133 runs at a strike rate of 119.81.
