England’s Test skipper Joe Root says that his best with the bat is yet to come and he wants to make the next phase of his career the peak.

Joe Root-led side has a jam-packed schedule ahead. The Three Lions will face New Zealand in the two-match Test series followed by the five-Test series against Team India. England will then later play Ashes in December down under.

However, with England set to play a lot of Test cricket, skipper Joe Root would want to continue the red hot form he had in the away series against Sri Lanka and India.

“We are making good strides in right direction”, Joe Root pleased with the progress of England Test team

The swashbuckling batsman registered scores of 228, 186, and 218 in successive Tests in Sri Lanka and India and during the process also become the third-highest run-scorer for England in Tests with just Graham Gooch and Sir Alastair Cook ahead of him.

In an interaction with Daily Mail, England Test skipper Joe Root remarked that his best is yet to come he want to score big hundreds and help his team win the series. He added that he’s hungry to peak his career.

"I certainly feel the best is still to come. I want to have more series like the start of this winter, and produce those big hundreds which help you win the series. I am hungry to make the next phase of my career the peak,” Joe root told Daily Mail.

Joe Root further expresses his disappointment over series loss against India. He said that he believes that the team have come a long way as a Test group and are coming to exciting phases of games that could see them flourish.

"I feel I have grown a lot in the past year or so, and now have a good handle on things. I was obviously disappointed with the way India [Test series] finished, but I do feel we are making big strides as a Test group, and we are coming into an exciting phase of games, which could really see us flourish,” he said.

Joe Root averages touching 50 from 103 Tests and is placed fourth in the ICC Test rankings for batters
