Shakib Al Hasan, one of Bangladesh’s best all-rounders, who is supposed to represent Jamaica Tallawahs in this year’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2021), is unlikely to receive the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Since Bangladesh has a busy home season at the same time as they are expected to host Australia followed by visits from England and New Zealand, there is a chance of BCB not allowing Shakib to participate in the tournament abroad.

Even BCB’s cricket operation chairman Akram Khan told Cricbuzz on Saturday (May 28) that even though no final decision has been made on that matter but hinted by saying that they expect to have a full-strength squad in the upcoming home series.

“We have not taken any decision about it (NOC for CPL). When the time comes we can take a decision in this regard," he said. "We certainly want to play against them with our full-strength squad,” Khan said.

In the BCB’s central contract, there was a clause that gave players an option to state their availability for the national team and inform the board beforehand about their commitments to different franchise-based tournaments.

The left-hand batsman used this clause to skip the Sri Lanka series and made himself available for this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL 2021).

But, BCB president Nazmul Hasan insisted that they will add this clause in their next central contract so that they don't panic at the last minute.

The Australian team that will be touring the subcontinental country in August will be playing a five-match T20I series.
