Former India cricketer Kapil Dev was not only one of the greatest all-rounders but also of the game, but also a great captain as he led India to their first-ever World Cup victory in 1983.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently posted a video on social media to celebrate the induction of the legendary Kapil Dev into the ICC Hall of Fame.

Kapil Dev, India’s finest all-rounder, is considered as the true game-changer. We celebrate him on #ICCHallOfFame today,” ICC wrote on Twitter.

While a lot of journalists and former cricketing legends came together and praised the 62-year-old cricketer in the video, Jonathan Agnew, the former England cricketer talked about how the right-arm quick bowler made fast bowling look ‘sexy’.

Whenever I came across Kapil Dev, he always played the game with a smile on his face. I think his most important contribution to Indian cricket was making fast bowling sexy. He brought a new element into Indian cricket,” Agnew said.

Even the former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming shared a few words of appreciation for Dev as he talked about how great was his contribution to Indian cricket.

He was a wonderful all-rounder and his contribution to Indian cricket goes far beyond just his on-field performances. Being a fast bowler in India didn’t appeal to many, but Kapil Dev did that year after year. His longevity was great but his skill set was also there,” Fleming said.
