Three members of the touring Sri Lankan contingent tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday (May 22) night, putting their three-match ODI series against Bangladesh in jeopardy.

The opening ODI of the series is scheduled to get underway in Dhaka on Sunday (May 23).

Bowling coach Chaminda Vaas, Isuru Udana and Shiran Fernando are the three members who have contracted Covid-19. Their samples collected last Tuesday (May 18) returned positive.

According to ESPNCricinfo, however, the first ODI will go ahead as planned since the second test results showed one of the Sri Lankan players is positive, with the other two testing negative.

The report further suggests that the third member testing positive twice is understood to have had Covid-19 over the past few months and his outcome was described by a team doctor as "normal".

The last two ODIs are scheduled for May 25 and May 28, respectively.
