International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday (May 19) celebrated the achievement of former India captain Anil Kumble. They posted the impressive stats of Kumble in cricket along with a statement of former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara.

Taking to Twitter, ICC wrote: "Next on #ICCHallOfFame we have one of the greatest bowlers of all time, India spinner Anil Kumble. The third-leading wicket-taker in Test cricket."

Sangakkara lauded Kumble and acknowledged that he has troubled him a lot with his bowling. He said, "Kumble has given me a few sleepless nights".

"He was not your orthodox leg-spinner. This big, tall gangly bowler running in and bowling with very high arm action. It was not at all easy to get him away for runs," he added.

The India leggie is the 77th member of the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. Kumble, with 619 Test wickets, is the third-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket after Muttiah Muralitharan (800) and Shane Warne (708), while his 337 wickets in ODIs ranks him in the ninth position.

Kumble captained India in 14 Tests between 2007 and 2008, winning three and losing five. He is one of only two bowlers after England’s Jim Laker to have taken all 10 wickets in an innings.
