This will be Dravid’s second stint with the senior Indian side. He has previously worked with the team as batting consultant during the England tour in 2014.
"The Team India coaching staff will be in the UK and it is best that the young team is guided by Dravid as he has already worked with almost all of the India 'A' boys. The comfort the youngsters share with him will be an added advantage," a BCCI official in the know of developments told ANI in an exclusive chat.
Notably, Dravid had worked closely with the current crop of youngsters in the national team at the U-19 level and India A side before he took charge of the NCA in 2019.
India’s second-string team will tour Sri Lanka for three ODIs and as many T20Is since the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and other senior players will be in England for the five-Test series.
The Indian team for the Sri Lanka series is likely to be picked at the end of the month and the boys will have to undergo quarantine in the Island Nation before playing the limited-overs matches.
