The Indian cricket team is all set to travel to England for a three-month-long tour to play ICC World Test Championship Final against New Zealand starting June 18 in Southampton followed by a five-match Test series against Joe Root and his team from August 4, 2021.

Ahead of the crucial tour of England amidst the Coronavirus outbreak, all members of the Team India have already received the first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine, but they will not have time to wait for the second dose as they are set to leave for the United Kingdom (UK) on June 2.

Well now, reports suggest that India’s touring members will get their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in England under the guidance of the UK Health Department.

Sources in the know of developments told ANI: “The team has already taken the first dose here after the government opened the vaccination process for all above 18. The second dose will be administered by the UK health department once the players are eligible to get the second jab as per rules.”

India’s touring side will be assembling in Mumbai on Wednesday, May 19 after undergoing at least three RT-PCR tests at home and a negative report on their arrival before entering the hotel quarantine. They will have to complete mandatory two-week quarantine in Mumbai before leaving for the UK where they will be in isolation for another ten days due to their COVID-19 rules.

Noteworthy, the BCCI had earlier warned the Indian players if they tested positive for COVID-19 in Mumbai, they must consider their England tour over on that day.
