DDCA offers Arun Jaitley Stadium as a vaccination site in battle against COVID-19

DDCA president Rohan Jaitley has written to state government and received a reply as well.

DDCA's Arun Jaitley Stadium India was the worst-hit country by the second wave of COVID-19 as the country registered the highest number of cases in a day since the pandemic had started. The Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) also had to be indefinitely postponed mid-way owing to COVID-19.

While the vaccination is going on in full swing across the country, our favorite cricketers with the likes of Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Jasprit Bumrah, and many more had taken their first jabs of the COVID-19 vaccine and urged their fans to get vaccinated at the earliest.

Thus, in wake of current events, the Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) president Rohan Jaitley has written to the state government, offering the premises of the Arun Jaitley Stadium to be used as a vaccination site in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jaitley confirmed that he has written a letter to the government and his office has received a reply as well.

I had written that if they feel that they require a center for vaccination, the DDCA premises can be used till Normalcy returns, Jaitley told PTI on Saturday.

In our stadium premises, we have a facility where 10,000 people can be vaccinated per day. If they want, till the time there is some semblance of normalcy, they can use it till cricketing activity resumes,” he added.

In order to ramp up the coronavirus vaccination drive in the country, the Centre had last month announced a ‘liberalized and accelerated’ Phase 3 strategy of COVID-19 vaccination from May 1. Now everyone above the age of 18 is eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccine.
