Team India fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar reacted strongly to media speculations about his future in Test cricket, after a report alleged that he was not interested in playing the longest format of the game anymore.

A report in Times of India quoted their 'sources' saying that the fast bowler wants to concentrate only on shorter formats and not the traditional red-ball format.

The report said: “Bhuvneshwar just doesn’t want to play Test cricket anymore. That drive has gone missing… To be honest, the selectors don’t even see Bhuvi hungry for 10 overs, forget Test cricket. It’s Team India’s loss no doubt, because if one bowler should have made it to England, it should have been him.”

Bhuvneshwar took to Twitter to clarify he continues to prepare for all three formats of the game irrespective of team selection and will do the same ahead too. He also asked the media to not assume anything in their articles based on sources.

He wrote, "There have been articles about me not wanting to play Test cricket. Just to clarify, I have always prepared myself for all three formats irrespective of the team selection and will continue to do the same. Suggestion - please don’t write your assumptions based on “sources”!"

Bhuvneshwar played the last of his 21 Test matches in South Africa in 2018. He has been plagued with injuries and India's rich resources in fast bowling ensured his absence when the selectors picked a 20-man squad for the World Test Championship final against New Zealand and the five-match Test series against England.

The fast bowler has taken 63 Test wickets at an average of 26.09 and also scored 552 runs at an average of 22.08 with three half-centuries.
