India's star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah got the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday (May 11). He shared a picture on Twitter while urging his fans to stay safe as India saw a huge surge in COVID-19 cases in the second wave.

Bumrah is part of the Team India squad for the upcoming tour of UK. The tour includes the World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand and the five-Test series against hosts England in August.

"Vaccinated. Please stay safe everyone," wrote Bumrah in his Twitter post. The speedster attached the picture of the moment when he got vaccinated.

Earlier, India captain Virat Kohli, Ishant Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, and Shikhar Dhawan got the first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The BCCI has named a 20-member squad (KL Rahul and Wriddhiman Saha subject to fitness clearance) which will also have four standby players. Bumrah had missed out on the last Test against England at home because of his wedding. But he has now returned as India gears up for an important UK tour.
