Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer Avesh Khan was having a great IPL 2021 before its suspension as the right-arm quick was amongst the top wicket-takers for the season with 14 wickets in 8 matches, only 3 less than Harshal Patel who is on the top spot.
Even though Khan is disappointed with IPL getting indefinitely suspended, he was recently extremely happy as his performance in the tournament got him a possible spot in the Indian team as he was named in the standby list along with Abhimanyu Easwaran, Prasidh Krishna, and Arzan Nagwaswalla.
The 24-year-old who has traveled a lot with the Indian team as a net bowler was really excited with just the fact that he might be getting a go if someone gets injured.
“I have traveled as a net bowler with Team India to South Africa as well. I was with the squad during the 2019 World Cup in England also, was them during the home Test series against England. I have been with the Indian squad during Asia Cup also,” the right-arm pacer told ESPNCricinfo.
“It gives a very good opportunity. I am a standby bowler for the upcoming England tour and if someone gets injured I might get a chance to play. I will do my preparations for the tour. I have to play and give my 100 percent,” he added.
The BCCI had recently announced a 20-man squad that will be traveling to the UK for the World Test Championship final against New Zealand from June 18 followed by a five-match Test series against England scheduled to begin from 4 August.
