Virat Kohli gets first dose of COVID-19 vaccine; urges fans to get vaccinated

India captain Virat Kohli got the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. He took the jab on Monday (May 10) and shared a picture on Instagram while urging his fans to get vaccinated.

"Vaccinate as soon as you can please. Stay Safe," wrote Kohli on his Instagram story with a picture of himself. The picture is from moments before he received the vaccine.

After the Indian Premier League 2021 got postponed, Kohli started a campaign to raise funds for the needy people in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. He and his wife Anushka Sharma had posted an update on the collected funds and they were very happy with the support shown by fans on social media. 

Kohli will soon be in action for the upcoming World Test Championship final against New Zealand and Test series against England from next month. 

As per reports, all the Indian cricket members are likely to take the Covishield vaccine in India before their departure. They will get the second shot of the vaccine in the UK.

Earlier, India batsman Shikhar Dhawan and Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Rahane had posted an update on social media after he and his wife Radhika got vaccinated.
