With India’s Coronavirus situation worsens with each passing day, former England captain and cricket commentator Kevin Pietersen on Tuesday (May 3) said it is heartbreaking to see the country he loves so much suffering like this at the moment.
India reported more than 3.5 lakh fresh COVID-19 cases recording every day from the last 12 days while the death tally stands to 222K till the date.
Pietersen, who is currently in India for commenting in the postponed Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) after the Coronavirus outbreak inside the IPL bio-bubble, has expressed his pain at seeing the world’s second-most populated country facing the severe COVID-19 crisis.
The Englishman further said India will get through the COVID-19 pandemic and emerge stronger, saying this country’s kindness and generosity never go unnoticed even during this crisis.
Pietersen wrote on Twitter on Tuesday, “India -- it's heartbreaking to see a country I love so much suffering! You WILL get through this! You WILL be stronger coming out of this! Your kindness & generosity NEVER goes unnoticed even during this crisis.”
Notably, the BCCI has promised that they do everything in its powers to arrange for the secure and safe travel of all the participants in IPL 2021 after the tournament postponed on Tuesday.
The board also thanked all the healthcare workers, state associations, players, support staff, franchisees, sponsors, partners, and all the service providers who have tried their best to organize IPL 2021 even in these extremely difficult times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
