Sachin Tendulkar | GettySachin Tendulkar’s fans and well-wishers can heave a sigh of relief, as his childhood friend Atul Ranade on Friday (April 2) evening confirmed that the batting legend has been hospitalised only as a "precautionary measure."

After being detected COVID-19 positive last week, Tendulkar on Friday morning informed via a tweet that he has been hospitalised under medical advice.

Sachin’s post left his fans in a panic mode but Ranade clarified that there is no need to worry.

"It's good that he got hospitalized because it's much better to monitor him in the hospital. He had persistent borderline symptoms (for covid), so it was necessary. With all the machines available there, they can monitor his health parameters properly," Ranade told TOI.

According to sources, Tendulkar has been admitted to the HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Girgaon in South Mumbai.

Meanwhile, social media got flooded with wishes for Sachin Tendulkar’s speedy recovery after he disclosed the news of hospitalisation.

Tendulkar's childhood friend and former India cricketer Vinod Kambli tweeted: "On this #GoodFriday, my family and I have prayed for you, my friend. Looking forward to see you soon even healthier than before!"

Pakistan’s fast bowling great Wasim Akram, who had many memorable on-field duels with Sachin, wrote: "Even when you were 16, you battled the world's best bowlers with guts and aplomb... so I am sure you will hit Covid-19 for a SIX! Recover soon master! Would be great if you celebrate India's World Cup 2011 anniversary with doctors and hospital staff... do send me a pic!"

Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi also took to Twitter and wished for Tendulkar’s strong recovery.

“Tendulkar’s Wishing you a speedy recovery Legend . No doubt that you will make a strong recovery. May your hospital stay be short and your recovery even shorter!” Afridi wrote.
