Shreyas Iyer likely to undergo surgery for shoulder injury on 8th April, as per reports

Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer, who dislocated his shoulder in the recently concluded ODI series against England will undergo surgery on 8th April as per the reports. 

Shreyas Iyer partially dislocated his left shoulder while fielding during the first ODI between India and England on March 23, which hosts won by 66 runs in Pune. 

The 26-year-old dived to prevent a boundary while fielding at extra cover in the 8th over of England's run chase and immediately complained of pain as he clutched his shoulder.

He was further taken for scans and was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the ODI series and IPL 2021. The Delhi Capitals skipper is now set to undergo surgery for his shoulder injury on 8th April as reports suggested.

"Shreyas will get operated on April 8 for his shoulder injury," a source in the know of things told PTI.

Shreyas Iyer is likely to be out of action for a minimum of four months and is also unlikely to play for the English county Lancashire in their Royal London one-day tournament starting on 23 July.

In absence of Iyer, Rishabh Pant will lead Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL 2021, starting 9th April.
