Cricket ties between the arch-rivals India and Pakistan can be reinstated again, as a three-match T20I series is likely to be reportedly scheduled between the two countries later this year.

According to the Pakistani Urdu newspaper Daily Jung, India and Pakistan can play a short T20Is series and even Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been told to be prepared for a historic bilateral series between the two arch-rivals later this year.

It is also being said that India and Pakistan are likely to meet in a three-match T20I series to mark the resumption of the iconic rivalry on the field and for which, the search for a six-day window has begun despite having a jampacked calendar this year.

Sources have also said that if India and Pakistan square off for the first time after 8 years, then the Indian cricket team will visit Pakistan this time because the last time the Pakistan team visited India when the two teams had a bilateral series between the two teams in 2012-13.

However, the PCB officials denied the talks of being approached by the BCCI, but a Pakistan board member reportedly admitted that a bilateral series might be on the cards this year.

A PCB official was quoted as saying by Daily Jang: “We’ve been told to be prepared.

However, the PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani has rejected speculations of having talks with the BCCI for a potential resumption of bilateral cricket relations between India and Pakistan for now.

Noteworthy, the Asian giants only meet in the ICC events and continental tournaments like the Asia Cup due to the political tensions and frosty diplomatic relations between the two countries.
