Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) does not want Asia Cup T20 to take place in the calendar year 2021 due to a packed schedule.

It has been revealed that PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani has conveyed to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises that the PCB is not in favor of the Asia Cup tournament this year.

A PCB source has disclosed that Mani conducted a virtual meeting with the franchises to let them know that the rest of the PSL 6 matches will be conducted in June.

The source said, “Mani made it clear that there was little possibility of the tournament being held this year and it would be moved to 2023 due to the commitments of the participating teams.

Mani also told the franchises that the next Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meet will finalize the dates for the Asia Cup.

There were also talks of PCB hosting the rest of the PSL 6 matches in April and asking Cricket South Africa (CSA) to postpone their tour. However, Mani decided not to take this route as they had good relations with CSA.

But the PCB chairman made it clear they could not do this as they had good relations with CSA which had supported Pakistan cricket by sending its full test team to Pakistan in February,” the source added.
