WI v SL 2021: Angelo Mathews pulls out of the West Indies tour due to family matters

Premier Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews has pulled out of the remainder of the West Indies tour. 

Sri Lanka is currently on a long tour of the West Indies. After losing the T20I series, they didn’t have a great start to the ODI series as they lost the first match by 8 wickets. 

However, with two ODIs and two-match Test series remaining, Sri Lanka suffered a major blow as veteran all-rounder Angelo Mathews pulled himself out of the rest of the tour due to a family emergency.

While confirming the same Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) posted a tweet on their official handle, the caption of which read: 

"Angelo Mathews, who is currently touring the West Indies with the National Cricket Team, will return home. The purpose of his return is to attend to a family matter. Mathews will depart West Indies today,” SLC Tweeted. 

Angelo Mathews didn’t have a great tour as he scored only 29 runs with the bat in the T20I series and bowled only one over in which he leaked 19 runs. He carried his poor form in the first ODI as he was run out for only 5 runs.
