Team India claim second position in ICC T20I team rankings

Australia slipped to the third spot after losing the five-T20I series 3-2 to New Zealand.

India moved to second spot in T20I team rankings | GettyTeam India on Wednesday (March 10) gained a slot to attain the second spot in ICC T20I Team Rankings. The Virat Kohli-led Indian side is already the top ranked Test team and occupies the second position in the 50-over format.

Australia conceded the five-T20I series 3-2 to New Zealand and thus slipped to the third spot and they are now just a point behind India.

Leading the chart with 275 rating points, England are seven points ahead of India.

The five-match T20I series between India and England gets underway on March 12 in Ahmedabad and the hosts would have a chance to further close the gap in team rankings.

In T20I batsmen rankings, Australia skipper Aaron Finch jumped two slots to reach the second position after impressive performances against New Zealand, while India’s KL Rahul has slipped one spot to be at No. 3.

India skipper Virat Kohli has maintained his sixth position in the T20I batting rankings, which is headed by England’s Dawid Malan.

New Zealand opener Martin Guptill has also gained three spots and as a result, he has entered the top 10, occupying the 8th spot.

No Indian player features in the T20I bowling and all-rounder rankings. Afghanistan's Rashid Khan holds the No. 1 spot in the T20I bowling rankings while his compatriot Mohammad Nabi is the numero uno all-rounder.

In the bowling rankings, Australia spinner Ashton Agar has jumped four slots and he is now positioned at the fourth spot. New Zealand spinner Ish Sodhi has moved three spots and he is now ranked at the eighth position. Sri Lanka spinner Lakshan Sandakan has risen nine spots and he sits at the tenth position.
