Fierce West Indies batsman Chris Gayle while talking about the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka said that he is more focused on winning a third T20 World Cup with West Indies.

Chris Gayle, who last played for West Indies against India in 2019, is set to return to the national side after two years as he was named in the squad which will take on Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series, starting 3rd March.

The two-time T20 World Cup winner Chris Gayle has already set his eye to clinch his third ICC trophy, which will be held in India later this year.

Addressing the same the swashbuckling opener said that he wants to accomplish his goal of winning the T20I World Cup by starting the series against Sri Lanka on a winning note.

"I want to accomplish, starting off by winning the series, but the bigger picture is actually to get three T20 titles under my belt. That's actually the goal I'm setting in my head -- winning the T20 World Cup. The World Cup is still a long way off but by the time you quint (blink), it's World Cup time." Chris Gayle said during press conference.

Chris Gayle, who has 22 centuries in all T20 cricket, said that he's delighted to be back in West Indies colors and added he's hopeful that he can put the team in a winning position.

"I want to win the series. I want to get off to a good start. It's really good to be back. Hopefully, I can perform, help the team, and put the team in a winning position." he said.

Chris Gayle batted at the No.3 spot for Punjab Kings in IPL 2020 and for Quetta Gladiators in two matches he played in PSL 2021. However, with four openers in the West Indies squad it is still not clear whether he’ll open the batting or bat at the No.3 spot

While talking about the same Gayle said that he feels that he's a number three specialist now and added that whatever role West Indies want him to play he’ll still be successful.

"It seems like I'm the number three specialist now. It's not a problem. I'm good at playing spin, I'm as good at playing fast bowlers as anyone as I'm an opener.

“But with West Indies cricket, whatever role they want me to play, I'm willing to play that particular role If it's opening, I'm ready, number three, number five -- I'm pretty much flexible. I will still be the best number five in the world, best number three in the world," said Chris Gayle.

The three-match T20I series between West Indies and Sri Lanka will be played at Coolidge Cricket Ground, Antigua.
